    The College of Arts and Science in Nairiyah is an important beacon of knowledge in the region, it endeavors to provide the community with highly qualified graduates who can transfer that knowledge to other members of the community.

    The college’s aim is that its graduates can combine a sense of belonging to an inherited culture and a desire to keep up with the modern age so that they can contribute to the advancement of the eastern region and the national community at large.

    To achieve that goal, the college is keen to recruit distinguished faculty members who possess the highest possible record of creative and research achievements that can be put to use for the Saudi community and all of humanity.

    The College of Arts and Science in Nairiyah was established in 1423 AH under the name of Women’s College of Education, and in 1427 AH the college’s first class of students graduated. In 1429 AH, it was affiliated to King Faisal University, taking on the name College of Arts and Science. In 1431 AH, the college was incorporated into the newly established University of Dammam.

    The College of Arts and Science in Nairiyah is proud to be the home to a beacon of academic knowledge which has been incorporated into the Hafr Albatin University system. The college has been striving to be a model for corresponding centers of learning with its approach to providing excellent graduates capable of spreading knowledge across the community and making a tangible contribution to its advancement. As dean of this college, I look forward to seeing today’s students graduate with distinction, meet the job market needs, and participate in developing our nation.

To make this possible, the college provides faculty members with the best record of teaching experience and research ability.

      A student applying to this women’s college must:
      1. To have obtained the General Secondary Diploma or equivalent in the past five years.
      2. To be known to be of good conduct.
      3. To pass any necessary test or interview.
      4. To be physically fit.

      The academic year is divided into two terms, but a summer term (running for half of the duration of a regular term) is always possible.
      The award of a degree from any of the college’s departments has requirements set out by the university council.
      Applying to the college is based on certain requirements and takes place at dates set by the Deanship of Admissions and Registration.
      The Bachelor’s degree offered by this college takes four years of study. The first year is known as the preparatory year and divided into two sections: arts and science.
      At the end of the preparatory year, each student joins the department that agrees with her preparatory section and cumulative average. An arts student can join the Departments of Islamic studies, Arabic, or English, depending on her cumulative average. A student who fails to get the average that can get her into one of the above departments will have to retake the courses she failed so that she can achieve the required average.
      A science student can join either the Department of Chemistry or of Mathematics, depending on the results of her preparatory tests and a cumulative requirement set by the Deanship of Admissions and Registration.
      The college can be attended full-time only; part-time study was discontinued in 1430-1431 H.
      The university allows a student to suspend or defer her study for one term, provided she has an acceptable excuse. In this case, the student can later make use of the grades achieved in her previous terms.

      The Arabic Language Department at the University of Dammam’s College of Arts and Sciences in Nairiyah provides the student with an academically rich program that provides a solid foundation not only in grammar, rhetoric, creative writing and literature, but also in analysis, as well as translation techniques. The students will leave the College with a strong and eloquent command of this rich and complex language as well as a newfound respect for the national heritage. The department pays special attention to the grammar, vocabulary and the aesthetic aspects of Arabic.       Overview

      Overview of specialization: The English Department, which was established in the 1430-1431 AH/2009/2010 CE academic year prepares its graduates to work in fields related to English language and literature. Program graduates are prepared for careers requiring the knowledge and skills related to the English language, translation and literature.       Admission

      Candidates for the program are required to have a score of 75% or above on the English section of the high school exit exam in order to enroll in the College’s Preparatory year (levels 1 and 2). To join the Department at level 3, they are required to pass the English courses of the Preparatory year. The duration of the program is four years, beginning with the Preparatory year (levels 1 and 2). In the next three years (2 levels each), the student must complete 134 credit hours to graduate.
