    The College of Science and Arts in Al Quaryah Al Olia is one of the new Colleges of the University of Dammam. It was establish by the royal decision number (25532) on 22/05/1433H.
    The first preparatory year in the College began in 1435- 1436 AH (2014/ 2015). The decision (1143 /42) of appointing Dr. Hafsa Barak Al Barak as the Dean of the College was issued in (29/10/1435 AH) by the President of the University of Dammam.
    The College includes four departments:

     

    The Literary Departments:

    The Scientific Departments:

    • Biology department
    • Mathematics Department
    • Computer Department

     

    Assisting Departments:

    • Islamic Studies Department
    • Arabic Language Department
    • Chemistry Department
    • Physics Department
    • History Department

     

    The College seeks to renew their curriculum in order to reach global levels and to achieve academic accreditation for students, activate exchange of communication and information in order to develop a national higher education, develop the ability of staff members and to adapt and apply new educational strategies and use modern equipment, to create a model for education in the field of human sciences, activate corporation and idea exchange among staff members and students in regard of conserving the environment. The electronic gateway facilitates exchanging experiences with foreign universities as well as creating a link and a mean of transferring information about developing the curriculums in the kingdom.

     

    Type of the Educational Institution:
    The College is one of the governmental higher educational institutions which works according to the internal rules of the University of Dammam.

     

    Nature and Types of the Educational Programs:

    The study duration is four years and each year is divided into two semesters (credit hours system). The student will gain a Bachelor’s degree in Arts and Science in one of the following programs:

    • Bachelor of Arts in English Language.
    • Bachelor of Science in Biology.
    • Bachelor of Science in Mathematics.
    • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science.

     

    Admission requirements
    A student applying to this women’s college must:

    • To have obtained the General Secondary Diploma or equivalent in the past five years.
    • To be known of good conduct.
    • To pass any necessary test or interview.
    • To be physically fit.

     

    Program Description:
    The academic year is divided into two terms, but a summer term (running for half of the duration of a regular term) is always possible.
    The award of a degree from any of the college’s departments has requirements set out by the university council.
    Applying to the college is based on certain requirements and takes place at dates set by the Deanship of Admissions and Registration.
    The Bachelor’s degree offered by this college takes four years of study. The first year is known as the preparatory year and divided into two sections: arts and science.
    At the end of the preparatory year, each student joins the department that agrees with her preparatory section and cumulative average. An arts student can join the Department of English, depending on her cumulative average. A student who fails to get the average that can get her into one of the above departments will have to retake the courses she failed so that she can achieve the required average.
    A science student can join either the Department of Computer Science, Biology or of Mathematics, depending on the results of her preparatory tests and a cumulative requirement set by the Deanship of Admissions and Registration.

    The College of Science and Arts in Al-Qaryah AL Olia is proud to be the home to a beacon of academic knowledge which has been incorporated into the Hafr Albatin University system. The college has been striving to be a model for corresponding centers of learning with its approach to providing excellent graduates capable of spreading knowledge across the community and making a tangible contribution to its advancement. As dean of this college, I look forward to seeing today’s students graduate with distinction, meet the job market needs, and participate in developing our nation.

    Mission

    The College, as an educational institution, seeks to provide developed educational programs in the main fields of science and arts which are capable of providing the society with specialized scientific competence that can help compete in the job market as well as conduct distinguished scientific research to serve both the national and global community.

    Goals

    Objectives:

    The College seeks to:

    • Apply knowledge and to help the society on a national and an economical level.
    • Provide diverse learning patterns that concentrate on creative and applied solutions.
    • Provide Regular reviews for plans, curriculums, and academic education.
    • To be the source of training, creation as well as producing research and knowledge.
    • Concentrate on the procedures rather than the outcomes.
    • Spread different skills and services on a national level.

     

    Morals of the College:
    The College of Science and Arts in Al Qaryah Al Olia is committed to the Islamic code of morals and academic ethics which direct its influence upon its relation with the outside world. These morals are:

    • Implementation of morals within our Islamic identity.
    • Apply and support a clear mechanism for questioning and honesty.
    • Implement a policy of team work to exchange caring responsibility and achieving creativity.
    • Carry out research and organize workshops and seminars among the departments of the College.
    • The leadership of the College encourages democracy, to respect the opinion of others, and suggestions to improve the College.
    • Apply the maximum level of accreditation in everything which will characterize our services and outcomes.Quick acceptance of changes of work environment (inside and outside).

    • Bachelor of Arts in English Language

      Admission Requirements:

      Candidates for the programme are required to achieve a score of 75% or above in the English section of the high school exit exam to enrol in the college’s preparatory year (levels 1 and 2). To join the department at level 3, they are required to pass the English courses of the preparatory year.

       

      Duration of the Program:
      The duration of the program is four years, beginning with a preparatory year (levels 1 and 2). In the next three years (2 levels each), the student must complete 134 credit hours to graduate.
       

    • Bachelor of Science in Mathematics

      The Mathematics Program awards its students a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics after completing 129 credited hours.

       

      Program Terms:

      • To pass in all the Mathematics courses that the student has studied in the preparatory year ( General Mathematics)
      • That the GPA is no lower than 2.

       

      The studying system:

      The student studies the first semester (scientific preparatory) with the science department students (level one), then the student joins the Mathematics Department for three years and a half (from the second level until the eighth level).

    • Bachelor of Science in Biology

      Program Terms:

      • The student should meet all the university admission Requirements.
      • To pass in all the Biology courses that the student has studied in the preparatory year ( General Biology )
      • That the GPA is no lower than 2.

    • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science

      Program Terms:

      • To gain a High school science diploma with a percentage that is determined by the College in addition to passing the General Aptitude and Educational Attainment tests with a percentage that is determined by the College in the beginning of every school year.
      • To pass the preparatory year with a GPA no less than 3 from 5.

       

      The studying system:

      The student studies the first semester in the preparatory year program science path, then the student joins the Computer Department for four years and studies 121 certified hours.
